ethnography outline

My critical question is how much is your life worth and how important is in terms of value. I want to explore the group of the unl campus lifestyle. I chose them because it’s a campus that is very diverse and full of different values and ideas. People come from all aspects of life and culture. This will shed light on the childhood and parental values as growing up in their hometown. Specifically I will study the child- to teen area of their life and how they grew up. I really don’t know much about anyone in the campus but football players. So my relation ship to the group is mild because I’m just an average student athlete. My method of observing is simply just asking them and video recording on my laptop. My questions will be.
Where are you from/ age/ year
How did you end up at unl
How are you being funded
Describe your background culture and what the culture value
Can you describe your childhood and what kinds of values you grew up on with
How have your values and understanding of worth change

response to podcast and brainstorming

The point in the “summer” Podcast is to tell us how other people live in other culture in lifestyles. Camping, it tells us from there side of the story why camping is fun. Why they like it so much. “Camping two days is like living two weeks in real life”. A kid even said camping is its on time zone.  But batman story is a profile by giving connotations. Of these scientific adventures that people have. “Two of these hazel blue eyes in my hand” say Daniel’s date that night. The story of the blind man, Daniel clicking his tong using echolocation to survive. The point is if you believe you can achieve. if you ask me you really hear way more from the interviewee than the interviewer. You hear things like Daniel mocking his own fame because people always asked him to ride his bike. Daniel never the less thought it was funny that people always wanted to see him ride it. For the podcast “summer” in the camp you herd kids singing and telling scary stories. Other than that they talked about regular life. The things that suck people in to these pod cast is that most people can relate to them so well. If you like camping a lot or you are a blind person. Maybe you are both and you can relate very good with the cast. The thing that sucks me in to the “summer” cast is that they have a brother hood. They eat together sleep together and just plain out live on the campsite as one. But Daniel has overcome many obstacles which sucks me in on that he has the will to be the best blind man ever.
I’m really lost in this assignment I don’t know what group or individual I would event decide to experiment on. Maybe I should do it over the culture of food and its worth in society. Maybe the importance of food types in life. But to do that I would have to interview the cafeteria people. During lunch time breakfast and dinner. Or should I interview another athlete. And how she or he came about where they are from and the challenges they overcame.  How would I get this on record? Should I check out a recording device?  Is the library a good source for people to interview and observe. Or should I interview and observe the teacher of the class and her achievements, struggles and challenge, that deal with her worth in society and valued as a teacher. If so what questions should I asked these people. How can I draw or bleed information out of them.  How would I show the best of ethnography.

artifact and explination

How much is your life worth and how important is it. This is my critical question before revision I still feel like this questions is a good one. Even coming from my peers they say its pretty good. How much is life worth with your importance in life. Iam stuck between the two I feel like it’s a good topic to work on but I don’t want others to have one similar. Other than that my artifacts could be a football but as mrs green stated that would probably be boring. My other atifacts would be the movie blindside, certain family issues, scholarship money, underarmour sponsorship, espn channel, a football ring, sports coverage, local news coverage, the actual question is personal to me. It concerns all athletes. Has many answers in different cases. And its not too broad or specific. The one artifact I want to write about is the movie the blindside. Because as stated before I have a lot of  family issues and that made me feel like my life was worth nothing to anyone except for football. In the movie micheal has a family willing to help him succeed in life. This is not only similar to me but any athlete that has a “second family” that’s willing to help that person. Im not the only person like that. Another reason is that the movie was really popular. Millions of people saw it and more than a few like me can relate to it. I actually have a couple of people that are not related to me that helped me with a lot. And there familys were so accepting in the matter. Like micheal in the movie this gave me hope about my lifes worth and importance to others. By the way my middle name is also micheal. But  when im say life importance I mostly mean that not in a sense of money terms but of how others value you and your importance to them. Im pretty sure now that micheal is in the national football league more people pretend to be his friend or “care” for him. Either because he has money or is now famous. His social importance is now greater than it was before. What about all the people that were there when he was struggling they were no where to be found. Now they want to try and use him. This subject and matter very specifically retains to me this is almost what exactly happened to me. Which is why I want to use this movie as my artifact. Ounce I was no one know im every persons “bestfreind”. Its really confusing and annoying to have this problem. The sad part is that its life
